Yikes, I’m embarrassed…

by Mike Fullerton on November 15, 2006

As a long time Microsoft employee, I’m proud to work for the “evil empire”. I like the work I do, I like the people I work with, I think we do great work. Most of the time. Dave sums the Zune experience here and all I can say is that I’m embarrassed. It seems like we made some classic Microsoft mistakes here. I wish we’d do a better job of learning from our past, um, learning experiences. Now, I haven’t tried out a Zune yet myself, so maybe these reviews are overly harsh, but it’s certainly starting the release off on the wrong foot. How dissapointing.

On a postive note, I love the new Office 2007. I’ve been using the Beta and now the RTM version for a while now, and I love it. I expected to hate the new “ribbon” toolbar thingy but I actually have been using it and find it easier to use than the old style menu bar and clunktastic toolbars from 2003. If only the designers from Office 2007 and IE 7 had got together and shared ideas… Sigh.

Oh, and Vista rocks. But you knew that. It’s a little happy on the animation and chrome, but once I dial that down, it’s all good.
