Quick, how do I learn to play golf by december?

by Mike Fullerton on July 29, 2008

I have a few months to learn to play golf. What this best way to get this party started? Any suggestions? Referrals to teachers? Strategies? Anything would be helpful to get me started on the right foot. Do I need my own sticks? er, clubs? Can I rent them? Do I need plaid pants and a yellow shirt? A stick bag with a stereo and a wetbar in it? I’m a complete newbie here and come to you plaid golf hat in hand. I love the movie Caddyshack. Does that help?

Lol, Ted Knight was so awesome in this movie. “The man’s a menace!!” Classic.

Totally doable!
I only started in January. (not that I’m very good at all, but at least I have fun!)

I’d suggest taking lessons (although I haven’t), or start by going to a driving range with a friend or two to give you advice. I’m sure you can rope Jud, Andy or Dick into helping out!

@Trina – we’ll have to hit the course once we learn to play. Bunny already knows how, but we’d like try to take some lessons together anyway. I think lessons are important, otherwise you can teach yourself bad habits.
