The new Will Farrell movie, Talladega Nights.
New website for the movie Serenity
September 7, 2005 – 7:19 pm
Check out the new site for Serenity, the movie. I’m really looking forward to seeing this. B. and I recently watched all the episodes of the TV show, as I think I’ve said before. Great show. I hope the movie is as good as it looks.

Troy
August 8, 2005 – 7:45 am
[ Possible spoilers follow - you've been warned ]
We just watched Troy and I really hated it. IMO, there was a lot wrong with the movie. But the best part of the movie was Prince Hector, played by Eric Bana. I wish the movie had been about more about him. I thought Brad Pitt looked weird all buffed up and in fighting trim. He looked kinda swollen, like he was retaining water or something. I didn’t buy all his angst and his romance in the movie was just contrived and dumb.
A couple of things that were really head scratchers. For one, Helen of Troy was supposed to be one of the most beautiful women, like ever, but the actress who played her just wasn’t. Don’t get me wrong, she was pretty, just not Helen of Troy pretty. I thought Hector’s wife was much more beautiful, by several orders of magnitude actually. Should have switched the actresses roles here. The funniest thing though is the scene where Achilles is practicing sword fighting with his cousin in ancient greek ruins. Fine. At first. But then I realized something. Doesn’t this story take place when the ancient greek ruins were actually freshly built buildings? Explain that one to me. I don’t get it.
Anyway, don’t bother with this movie if you haven’t seen it yet.
Time for a bitch slap
June 28, 2005 – 10:08 pm
Go to http://www.kingkongmovie.com/ and click the trailer button. What in the name of holy hell randolf? Suddenly I’m on a page on Volkswagen’s website with no apparent way to view the trailer. I do see a King Kong graphic but have no clue what it means. Someone deserves a good bitch slap for this bull shite. What unbelievable stupidity. Furthers my low opinion about the type of folks who decide things like this. Did a group of monkeys decide this was a good idea around a banana buffet in a conference room somewhere? Jeez, I’m stunned. This instantly soured me on the King Kong movie. My interest was peeked for a few minutes today and now they can fricking talk to the hand. I don’t want to hear it. Enjoy your bananas dumb asses.
[Edit]
Here’s the actual trailer. In case you care. Which I don’t. Ok, maybe I do a little. But still, lameness abounds.
Battlestar Galactica…
February 6, 2005 – 9:47 pm
So, as some of you know, I’m a sci-fi fan. Cough. I read it constantly. I like shows with spaceships: Star Trek, Babylon 5, Stargate, Farscape, and now (the new) Battlestar Galactica. One of my favorite movies is Aliens. I could go on. And on. And on. I know it’s a little geeky of me. I’ve loved stuff like this since I was yay high to a grasshopper…
Anyway, I started Tivoing the new Battlestar Galactica but was holding off watching them until I got my hands on the Battlestar Galactica miniseries from last year. Tried to rent it and failed. Something like a four plus month wait at netflix. So I bought it. I was expecting a certainly level of lameness but was hoping for some fun too. I had relatively low expectations – something like the newest Enterprise Star Trek series. Pretty dumb but fun to watch while I do stuff on the computer etc. Not relegated to the sit on the couch full attention (like West Wing) kind of thing. Boy was I wrong.
So last night we watched it the miniseries. Yes we. I drafted the Bunster to watch it with me. Bunny a sci-fi fan? Um, not so much.
And the surprising review?
Kicked. Farfignugen. Ass.
This was the best sci-fi movie, er, anything, I’ve seen in years. Even Bunny really enjoyed it.
I was shocked at how good it was. Seriously. I mean there was some of the usual dumbness, but it was minimal, and it was suspenseful and had great special effects and even had, gasp, character development. Holy craptizzle!
Anyway. Any inkling of sci-fi fandom? Watch it. Even if you don’t usually like things like that, watch it. That’s your homework for the week kids.
BTW, friends, if you’re worthy, I can lend you the DVD.
Darth Tater
January 21, 2005 – 8:22 pm
This is probably the most entertaining thing about the most recent Star Wars movies: Darth Tater. I kid. Mostly. Hopefully Revenge of the Sith will kick some potato ass.
